We know what intentions the national team coach, Michał Probierz, has towards Santiago Hezze before the next training camp of the national team. In March, our team will play in the play-offs to advance to the European Championships in Germany.

At the beginning of the year, Michał Probierz had a telephone conversation with the Olympiacos Piraeus player, shortly after Santiago Hezze received his Polish passport. The player was surprised by the contact from the coach, but he positively responded to the interest from the Polish Football Association. No specific declaration was made, but Probierz suggested a face-to-face conversation with Hezza. This is when the player has to decide about his performance for our national team.

The meeting between the midfielder and the coach was initially supposed to take place at the beginning of February, but the plans changed. We learned that the coach still intends to visit Hezze in Greece, but will do it during other trips. This is not a priority for Touchstone at the moment.

No call-up in March

We have determined that Hezze will not be called up to the next Polish national team training camp in March, but he may get a chance to debut in our national team at a different date.

Next month, the national team will play in Warsaw against Estonia (March 21) in the play-offs to advance to the European Championships. If they win the first match, they will face the winner of the Wales-Finland match in the play-off final.

Santiago Hezze is a defensive midfielder for Olympiacos Piraeus. He has been playing in Greece since this season. Before his transfer to Europe, he played over a hundred matches for Atletico Huracan in the Argentine top league. The player’s grandmother comes from Poland, so Hezze received a Polish passport.

First of all, the footballer wanted to make it easier for himself to function in the new club. There is a limit on foreigners in the Greek league and each team can have a maximum of eight players from outside the European Union. In addition, three players must be under 23 years old, and Hezze is currently one year younger.

He was in the PZPN system

The player was included in the PZPN scouting system monitoring players with Polish roots. When Hezze received the documents, he was contacted by the head of foreign scouting of the Polish Football Association, Maciej Chorążyk, and informed about the interest of the coach of the first national team.

Hezze made his debut for the Argentine youth national team, but later he was not called up to the first team. He is a key player in Olympiacos. This season he played 29 games.
