Legia Warszawa must make up for the one-goal loss against Molde if it dreams of continuing to play in the Europa Conference League. – We have to play with calculation, we cannot attack too hastily – says coach Kosta Runjaić.
To put it mildly, Legia Warszawa did not start well in the spring round. Although in the first match they won against Ruch Chorzów 1-0, they did not impress. She simply faced a weak opponent.
Then there was a disastrous first half in Norway and a much better second half, which allowed us to avoid embarrassment against Molde and lose “only” 2:3. The mood in the team was supposed to improve last weekend during the competition against Puszcza Niepołomice, but Legia failed again and only drew with the newcomer 1:1.
And now it’s time for the rematch with Molde. There is one goal to make up. – Let’s go back a week. We played on equal terms until we lost the first goal. Then there was this thankless situation with a goal. We made mistakes that shouldn’t have happened. Losing a goal quickly made us behave timidly and as a result we lost further goals, said coach Kosta Runjaić at a press conference.
At 0:3 we started to assert ourselves, and after the break we played our own game. We scored two goals and it almost could have been another. This result changes the perception of the rematch. We have to use these two goals scored and advance tomorrow. It was not Molde that surprised us, but rather ourselves in some situations – continued the Legia coach.
Legia must chase the result, but we should not expect hurricane attacks from the first minute.
– From the referee’s first whistle, we have to play with full commitment. At the same time, we must remember that this match will not be decided in the first half. You have to find the right balance between defense and attack, said Runjaić.
It is possible that the promotion will be decided by a series of penalty kicks. – We didn’t train them before this match. We want to decide this match in regular time. There will be a full stadium and a hot atmosphere. We will work from penalty area to penalty area and we will do our best to enjoy promotion after the match – admitted Legia’s coach.
